Hum an idea, get a finished song.
Last updated: 21 October 2026
HearMe is a music creation app. You record or play a short musical idea, add some words, and the app builds a finished song around them. This policy explains what the app collects, where it goes, and how to get rid of it.
We do not sell your data, we do not show advertising, and the app contains no analytics, tracking or crash-reporting software of any kind.
Account information. When you create an account we store your email address, a display name, a public handle other users can search for, and an optional profile photo. Your password is handled by our authentication provider and is stored only as a salted hash — it is never visible to us.
The music you make. Recordings you make in the app, audio files you upload, melodies you play on the keyboard or a connected MIDI device, lyrics you write or generate, and the finished songs the app produces. These are stored in your account so your projects and library are there next time you open the app.
Social information, if you use the community features. Friend requests and friendships, songs you publish to your friends, and likes and play counts on those songs. Publishing is always something you choose to do — songs are private to you until you share them.
Notification token. If you allow notifications, we store the push token that identifies your device so we can tell you about things like incoming friend requests. It is not linked to any advertising identifier.
The app does not request or collect location, contacts, health data, or your device’s advertising identifier.
Storage. Your account, projects, audio and social data are stored using Appwrite Cloud, hosted in the United States.
Music generation and analysis. To create a song, the app uploads the audio
you provide, along with your lyrics, to a research server operated by the
Georgia Institute of Technology Center for Music Technology
(cmt.music.gatech.edu). Finished songs are also uploaded there for musical
analysis — the app uses this to work out the song’s structure and harmony so it
can draw the visualisation you see on the result screen. This processing is what
makes the app work; without it no song can be generated.
Lyric processing. Lyrics are also processed by Alibaba Cloud’s DashScope API (dashscope-intl.aliyuncs.com), which formats them for the music model. Word suggestions in the lyric editor and the word bank are looked up via Datamuse (api.datamuse.com). Neither is used for advertising.
AI lyric suggestions. When you ask the app to suggest or rewrite a lyric line, your lyrics are sent to the research server above, which uses Anthropic’s Claude to write the suggestion. Only the lyrics are sent, not your name or email address. This happens only when you use those features, and Anthropic does not use the data for advertising.
Email. Verification codes and access codes are emailed to you through Resend (resend.com), which receives only your email address and the message.
Other than the services named above, which process data only to make the app work, we do not share your data with anyone, and we do not use it for advertising.
Your content stays in your account until you delete it or delete your account.
You can delete your entire account from inside the app: Profile → Delete Account. This permanently removes your songs and projects, your uploaded and recorded audio, your friendships, anything you have published, likes and plays you have left on other people’s songs, your profile, and finally your login itself. It cannot be undone.
To delete an individual song or library item, remove it from within the app.
If you would rather we did it for you, email the address below and we will action it.
HearMe is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
Songs published to friends are user-generated content. We do not tolerate unlawful or abusive material. If you encounter something objectionable, contact us at the address below and we will review and remove it.
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page.
